The South Atlantic Medal Association (1982)

Royal British Legion, Cornwall

RBL Cornwall County has been nominated as the South West's major Legion sponsor of the following commemorations in 2007: 50th Anniversary of the Korean War, 40th Anniversary of the withdrawal of British forces from Aden and the 25th Anniversary of the Falklands campaign.

Date: Sunday 3rd June 2007 - the event will be linked in with National events taking place in London and will also incorporate the Annual County Rally.

Venue: The event is now being staged at the Boconnoc Estate, Lostwithiel (the location of the County Rally in 2005)

Programme: Although the actual programme is still in its planning stages, bids are being made for all the major Service Display teams which include the Red Arrows, Red Devils and Falcon Teams. In addition, invitations will be sent to RNAS Culdrose, HMS Raleigh, Military and local bands, TA Units, Ex Service Organisations, Legion Branches, Cadet Units, local schools and the General Public. The format for the day will be a military tattoo with a full parade, march past and Drumhead Service.

Veterans: Quite appropriately, as 2007 commemorates the major events above, the Veterans from every Ex Service organisation will be the VIP's. The day's events are very much in their honour and will give those attending the opportunity of not only paying their respects to our surviving veterans but also to pay homage to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf.

The programme will commence at approximately 1200 and we look forward to seeing you.
