Requisitioned 4 April and berthed at Southampton on 7th at the end of a world cruise.
Fitted with two helipads, RAS gear, and a small hospital.
Sailed 9 April with the second helipad still being completed and carried 2400 troops of 3 Cdo Bde and Naval Party 1710.
Routed to Ascension Islands via Freetown with Elk.
In the van of the assault on the Falklands, landing her troops and stores in San Carlos 21 May and immediately thereafter started caring for battle casualties, dealing with 172 all told.
On 27 May sailed with Norland to S Georgia and embarked 5 Infantry Brigade from QE2.
Landed the troops at San Carlos 2 June and unloaded stores.
After 14 June transported 4400 Argentine PoWs to Puerto Madryn (Patagonia) in one lift.
Returned to Southampton and disembarked 3 Cdo Bde on Sunday 11 July.
