Requisitioned 4 April and sailed from the Tees to Southampton arriving on 6th. First STUFT to be worked on and was given RAS gear (later modified on board), and embarked 3 Cdo Bde war maintenance reserve as well as guns, vehicles, and other stores.

Sailed 9 April with Canberra for Ascension where self-help modifications were made for her to carry and operate helicopters. Mounted two Bofors 40mm air defence guns.

Left Ascension 7 May as part of the amphibious task group tactically loaded for an amphibious landing and with a full complement of 3 helicopters.

On 16 May met with carrier battle group to disembark her helicopters, cross decking ammunition and stores. When the landings took place made three overnight runs into San Carlos water to land stores, vehicles, rations and ammunition (2000 tons loaded at one stage).

After the surrender remained in San Carlos for two days loading the 400-strong Commando Logistic Regiment and stores for Port Stanley. Arrived there 20 June and finally returned to Britain arriving in Plymouth 12 July.
