Requisitioned 17 April and converted to a troopship at Portsmouth (22-25 April) after some initial work at Hull. Fitted with two helipads, freshwater generation plant, satnav and satcom, and her living spaces were modified.

Sailed on 26 April carrying 2 Para. After calling at Ascension, arrived off San Carlos Water 21 May to disembark her troops in the initial landings.

Entered San Carlos Water to become the first STUFT to anchor in 'Bomb Alley'. Subsequently embarked survivors from HMS Antelope and went with Canberra to S Georgia to embark Guards and Gurkhas from QE2. After landing them at San Carlos loaded PoWs whom she later took to Montevideo. During her return trip the Argentines surrendered and she later took 2047 more PoWs to Puerto Madryn.

Left the Falklands 23 June to return home in company with Europic Ferry.
