Requisitioned in Alexandria 10 April while on a school cruise. Disembarked the children and other passengers at Naples on 13th and arrived in Gibraltar on 16th.
Converted in 65 hours to a hospital ship by adding a helipad and a full hospital facility as well as satcom and RAS gear. Two freshwater making planmts were fitting later on while at sea.
Left Gibraltar on 19th and proceeded south vis Freetown and Ascension, arriving in the Falklands area 11 May. The first casualties from HMS Sheffield arrived on 12th.
Worked until 13 July during which time she admitted 730 in-patients, including 150 Argentinians, and the surgeons performed 554 operations.
Left the Falklands with the Gurkhas on board and arrived at Southampton 9 August.
